The footwear company Dr Martens recently received an order from the Vatican for four pairs of shoes from the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II. The Pope had heard about the shoes from the spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, who had praised the comfort of the shoes.

The company decided to give away the shoes to the Vatican, and, with a thank you note the Pope later sent, a huge order for boots for the Vatican's security men was enclosed.

A spiritual leader and a dedicated follower of fashion!
